Bernard Valcourt is a white male who is the minister of aboriginal affairs and northern development. Honestly, why is a white man the head of something he doesn't understand. He does not understand how aboriginal people live, he doesn't understand their culture. |

I definitely agree with your opinion that a white male should not be able to be the minister of aboriginal affairs. I agree with your opinion, and I think that the minister should be someone who is of aboriginal descent, and someone who understands the aboriginal ways of life extremely well. Without this, chaos can happen like what is happening now, and I also believe that Aboriginals should be treated in the same way that regular Canadian citizens are, as they are citizens as well. Maybe next time you could be more specific about your points and could use more detail and background information to support your points. Overall, great blog!

I really like what you said in this blog post! You made a lot of very valid points, many of which I strongly agree with. Although, one thing I do disagree with is how you said that aboriginal peoples should be our government, although they should, however, be much better represented in our government. Being part of a government is a very big job, and requires a lot of education. I don't think that in a modern world, managing a country would be anywhere near easy. This being said though, I would definitely agree that we need to get aboriginal peoples easier and better access to better education. What do you think about this? How do you think we can better make education available to them? What do you think we can do as a community or as individuals?

Hello Paisley, good effort on your blog. I don't think it was a good idea to start your post saying that Bernard Valcourt is a white man running the minister of Aboriginal affairs. You could have just said that he was "non-Aboriginal", which would have sounded better and made you come off less aggressive. Also, you don’t have to be an Aboriginal person to understand Aboriginal culture, and I’m curious why you think he knows nothing about Aboriginal culture. Being the minister of Aboriginal affairs, I am sure he knows a thing or two about Aboriginals. I agree that we have treated Aboriginals unfairly, but I don’t think that means they should be our government. That takes a lot of responsibility and time and effort, and they have bigger problems right now. What happened to Aboriginal people in the past is a sad truth, but a truth that we should move on with and instead forge new friendships and show support to the Aboriginal people. One helpful tip: Before you post your blog, try copy and pasting it into Microsoft Word or some other software with a spellcheck system, as you have made a few spelling and grammar errors.

I found it fascinating to hear your strong opinion about the indian ministry of affairs and its head Bernard Valcourt. You made valid points that maybe he isn’t the best suited person for the position. However I believe that there must be a reasonable explanation for why he is the head. You mentioned that “He does not understand how Aboriginal people live, he doesn’t understand their culture” Why is this your opinion? How did you information find this information? And is there a chance that it was from a bias point of view?
